On October 30th, CERM will be sponsoring an all day Diversity in the Chemical Sciences Symposium. This symposium will have a two-fold focus on diversity in the chemical sciences. The first session will feature speakers who present experiential knowledge and current evidence-based findings, with an aim to raise the consciousness of the chemical community to the complex challenges faced by underrepresented groups in the STEM disciplines. The purpose of this session is to better our current state of understanding of strategies that support and enhance the recruitment, retention, and advancement of underrepresented groups in STEM. The second symposium session will celebrate scientific excellence gained through diversity and inclusion in the chemical sciences. Speakers from underrepresented groups who are recognized as renowned leaders in their respective scientific discipline will present their research.
